Clash of Critters Treasure Hunt Guide: Pickaxes & Chests
How it works
You pair up (older versions: a team of four helpers) and dig a grid for hidden treasures. Each tile costs pickaxes; pickaxes drop from the Pinball Machine’s jackpot slot (15 per jackpot at x1) and from Mall packs. Progress is shared; once every treasure in a stage is found you move to the next. Empty tiles may still drop candy, pinballs or a Bomb that clears neighbouring tiles. The Jul 29, 2026 patch made each stage pick its treasure set at random from several of similar difficulty, so two runs are never identical.
Treasures and sizes
Zobo Cola 1×3 · Zobo Zine 2×2 · Syringe 1×2 · Trumpet 1×3 · Outdated Console 1×2 · Radio 2×3 · Pirated Magazine 2×2 · TV 2×3 · Cyberlimb 1×4 · Spaceship 3×3 · Statue 2×4. Knowing the footprints is the whole “treasure hunt calculator” trick: a 1×4 Cyberlimb only fits along a row or column, so once you hit one tile of it you can dig in a line instead of guessing.
Stage table (pre-Jul 29 layout — sizes and costs still apply)
| Stage | Grid | Pickaxes per tile | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | 5×5 | 15 | 60 pinballs / 10 capsules / 1 key + 228k candy |
| 4–6 | 6×6 | 20 | 180 pinballs / 15 capsules / 1 key + 457k candy |
| 7–9 | 7×7 | 25 | 240 pinballs / 20 capsules / 1 key + 914k candy |
| 10–12 | 7×7 | 35 | 600 pinballs / 25 capsules / 1 key + candy |
| 13–15 | 7×7 | 70 | 700 pinballs / 25 capsules / 1 key + 1,918k candy |
| 16 | 7×7 | 100 | 800 pinballs |
Candy amounts scale with the player’s level. Treasure sets per stage are now randomised, so treat the reward column as the stable part.
Chests
Each chest takes 4 keys; three chests per run: Brown (5 Wishboxes, 500 pinballs, 10 Bentos), Silver (5 Wishboxes, 1,000 pinballs, 5 Yellow Bricks, 20 Bentos), Golden (10 Wishboxes, 1,500 pinballs, 10 Yellow Bricks, 30 Bentos). Twenty Wishboxes of chosen Tatari per full run is why Treasure Hunt is the best event for pushing a single line.
Planning pickaxes
A 7×7 stage at 70 per tile is 3,430 pickaxes to clear fully — you will never clear it; you dig until the listed treasures are found. Rough budget per key (three stages): about 1,000 pickaxes early, several thousand by stage 13+. Community solvers exist; our advice is simpler: dig edges of a revealed treasure first (footprints above), use Bombs on dense unknown areas, and stop a stage as soon as its last treasure is out. The Lightning T3 trial (“dig 70 treasure tiles”, raised from 60 on Dec 4, 2025) completes on any stage.
